Landpower adds another dealership to its WA network

Published on 14 February 2022

Margaret River Machinery has joined Landpower, one of Australia’s largest privately-owned farm machinery distribution networks, as an independent dealer servicing the Augusta-Margaret River and Busselton shires in Western Australia.

For the past 18 months, the dealership has been acting as a sub-branch for CLAAS Harvest Centre Katanning to extend its distribution of CLAAS, AMAZONE and Väderstad machinery in the south-west region. The dealership will now act as the regional sales, parts and service hub for these brands under its own name, as well as representing a range of specialist vineyard sprayers and equipment.

The CLAAS range includes AXION, ARION and AXOS tractors, SCORPION telehandlers, and the integrated GREENLINE range of forage harvesting equipment. AMAZONE is a world leader in spreading, spraying, drilling and cultivation technology, while Väderstad is well-known for its cultivation and seeding equipment, including SEED HAWK and TEMPO high speed precision planters.

Landpower Logistics and Multi-Franchise Manager, Ian Hockaday, says the addition of Margaret River Machinery fills an important gap in the company’s footprint in Western Australia. “This new dealership will enable us to better service the wide range of agricultural and horticultural enterprises in the south-west. Producers and contractors will have greater access to cutting-edge technology, parts, service and technical support to gear up their farming business for success. We see good potential right across the CLAAS, AMAZONE and Väderstad ranges and we look forward to working with Adam and his team to grow and support sales in this region.”

Margaret River Machinery is owned and operated by Adam and Chelsea Hogg. Born and raised on a family farm in the UK, Adam attended Harper Adams University before starting his training as a farm machinery service technician. In 2011, Adam moved to Australia to take up a position as service manager with CLAAS Harvest Centre Katanning before relocating to Margaret River in 2014 to work with another distributor. He and Chelsea established Torque Diesel Industries, a farm machinery service workshop, in 2015. The business will now trade under the name of Margaret River Machinery.

Adam is assisted by service technicians, Steve Culloton, who has more than 15 years’ experience as a service technician, service manager and machine guidance technician in the farm machinery sector, and Will Hull, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the engineering and agricultural industries. Parts/Administration Manager, Leonie Wells, has more than a decade’s experience the farm machinery sector, including almost five years with CLAAS Harvest Centre Katanning.

“This is a small family-owned business that is based on customer service and we intend to maintain that focus,” Adam says. “Our workshop has full access to OEM technical systems and diagnostic equipment and we carry a wide range of spare parts and consumables.”

Margaret River Machinery is located at 1/28 Auger Way in the industrial area of Margaret River.

Landpower is now represented by four CLAAS Harvest Centres in Geraldton, Northam, Katanning and Esperance, as well as independent dealerships in Harvey, Corrigan, Manjimup and now Margaret River. “The addition of Margaret River Machinery to our network means the vast majority of farmers in WA are no more than 80–100 km away from a CLAAS Harvest Centre or Landpower dealership,” Ian Hockaday says.
