New four metre Cirrus folding-trailed cultivator drills

Published on 01 February 2017

AMAZONE has extended its series of Cirrus offset disc/drill combinations with the release of the 4003-2 folding unit and 4003-2C models.

CLAAS Harvest Centre AMAZONE Product Managers, say the two new models have obvious appeal, offering a four-metre working width, larger hopper capacity and narrow transport width.

“Compared to the existing three and six metre models, the 4003-2 and 2C models are just the right size for medium-sized farming enterprises and contractors. They enable one-pass cultivation and drilling at operating speeds of up to 18 km/h, have a modest drawbar requirement of 170 to 200 hp and can be moved quickly between paddocks and properties.”

The new models feature the same technology found on the current Cirrus 03 series, with two rows of compact discs, AMAZONE RoTeC PRO coulters and a roller. “The aggressive angle of the discs distributes and incorporates stubble, while the high clearance prevents blockage from straw or crop residues, even at high operating speeds. The working depth of the disc section can be adjusted from the cabin during operation.”

Two discs are mounted on each arm, which is suspended via a sprung rubber block to maintain a uniform working depth and maintenance-free operation. The rubber blocks also act as an overload safety device on stony soils. The two-row angular contact ball bearing races are protected by a combination of felt ring and high quality face seals and a single oil fill provides lifelong lubrication, eliminating the need for grease nipples.

The Cirrus 4003-2 features an open, single 3,600 L hopper, while the 4003-2C can be equipped with a sealed twin bin 4,000 L pressurised hopper. The 60:40 split allows the accurate application of seed and/or fertiliser via the RoTeC PRO coulters.

Both models can be fitted with a foldable loading board or a hydraulic filling auger for quicker and easier filling. Fitted with 880 mm 400/75 R17.5 Matrix tyres, both implements have a legal road speed of 40 km/h, even with a full hopper. The Matrix tyres offer important agronomic benefits, as well as reducing drag. “Its special profile consolidates the soil for optimal germination, emergence and crop establishment. Likewise, the 880 mm diameter and 410 mm profile reduces pulling power.”

Alternatively, the two new Cirrus models can be equipped with the cheaper AS tyres. The 4003-2 and 4003-2C are the first models in the series to feature full ISOBUS control, allowing the user to operate the implement from within the tractor cabin via any ISOBUS-compatible terminal, such as the AMATRON 3, CCI or AMAPAD.

All major functions, including calibration, working depth pressure and seeding rates, are controlled via the AMATRON 3 in-cab terminal, which can be equipped with optional GPS-Switch section control, GPS-Track guidance and GPS-Maps variable rate technology.

Other options include the Comfort Pack with TwinTerminal 3.0, which allows priming, calibration and emptying to be controlled from the cabin. Cirrus 4003-2 and 4003-2C can be fitted with an optional pneumatic GreenDrill catch crop seeder box, which enables a second seed, fertiliser or crop protection product to be applied simultaneously.
