A bite-sized cultivation combo

Published on 04 January 2022

With working widths of 3 and 4 metres and a drawbar requirement of just 150 hp, AMAZONE Ceus 3000-TX and Ceus 4000-TX combination disc-and-tine cultivators are ideal for smaller cropping operations. CLAAS Harvest Centre Product Manager – AMAZONE, Steve Gorman, says the trailed units provide one-pass tillage, loosening and seedbed preparation.

“Ceus helps to create the best soil conditions for the rapid decomposition of organic matter and excellent crop emergence in the following crop,” he says. “The large diameter discs finely shred straw, stubble or catch crops and intensively crumble the soil surface. The following tines reliably incorporate any organic matter and loosen soil down to a depth of 30 cm. The 40 cm tine spacing ensuring easy passage of stubble. The levelling discs and roller then reconsolidate the seedbed for optimum sowing conditions.”

Both models are equipped with central running gear for easy operation at working speeds of up to 15 km/h. Available in smooth and serrated versions, the independently-suspended discs easily follow ground contours. The stone release system via rubber spring elements is maintenance-free.

Tine depth is adjusted manually, although a hydraulic controlled version is available. Tines can be fitted with a selection of C-Mix shares to suit all soil types and operating conditions.

C-Mix Super tines are equipped with a pressure spring overload protection, while C-Mix Ultra tines feature hydraulic overload protection. “C-Mix Ultra system protects the cultivator from extreme loads by means of highly-dampened resetting of the tine after tripping,” he says. “The trip force can be infinitely adjusted up to 800 kg, ensuring working depth is precisely maintained.” The optional C-Mix Clip quick-change system enables easy point replacement.

The tine segment is followed by a set of levelling tools, which can be equipped with smooth or serrated discs or spring tine levellers. Eleven different rollers and various rear harrows are available for seedbed reconsolidation.
