New loader wagon calls the shots

CLAAS has released a new control system that optimises the performance of its CARGOS 9000 and 8000 forage loader wagons when used with any ISOBUS-compatible tractor.
CLAAS Harvest Centre Greenline Product Specialist, Blair McAlwee, says the TIM SPEED CONTROL system automatically regulates the forward speed of the tractor according to the real-time throughput of the wagon’s pick-up.
“Torque measurements on the rotor and pick-up provide the basis for precise and efficient control,” he says. "Put simply, forward speed is reduced during periods of high intake and increased during periods of low intake. This system ensures the wagon’s loading capacity is optimised whilst significantly reducing the operator’s workload.”
The technology was initially developed as a CRUISE PILOT function for specific use with CLAAS tractors.
It has since been reprogrammed to the AEF TIM standard, meaning it can be used with any ISOBUS-compatible tractor.
The Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) is an independent organisation founded in 2008 by seven global agricultural equipment manufacturers.
Its charter is to enable the seamless interaction of agricultural machinery, terminals and other devices via the development of ISOBUS-compatible technology. Today, its membership includes more than 220 companies.
CLAAS CARGOS 9000 and 8000 forage loader wagons are available in six models from 30 to 50 cubic metres.
They are available with a number of new options for improved safety, efficiency and soil protection, including a compartment cover that reliably secures and protects loaded forage.
“The side-mounted, reinforced cover is operated hydraulically via a double-acting ram,” Blair says. “Each model can be equipped with two or three roller feed-out modules that can be easily removed to increase the payload. A torque measurement system is available for automatic unloading.”
Most CARGOS models can be fitted with 800/45 R 30.5 Alliance 885 radial tyres for increased ground contact.
“These wide profile tyres reduce ground pressure and have very good traction and self-cleaning properties,” Blair says. "In combination with the optional tridem chassis and electro-hydraulically controlled crab steering, these tyres are setting new standards for soil protection.”
The new Control system will be available in machines delivered for the 2020/2021 season.
