New head for CLAAS tractor business

GLOBAL farm machinery manufacturer, CLAAS, has announced the appointment of Dr Martin von Hoyningen-Huene as head of its tractor and industrial engineering business units.

Dr Hoyningen-Huene will also join the CLAAS Executive Board.

“We’re delighted that we’ve been able to recruit a manager for our tractor business with such formidable industry experience as Dr von Hoyningen-Huene,” says Thomas Böck, Chair of the CLAAS Executive Board.

After studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Karlsruhe and the ENSAM Grande Ecole in Paris, Dr von Hoyningen-Huene completed his PhD at the University of Siegen. He began his professional career as a business consultant and project manager at McKinsey & Company in Stuttgart. From 2004 to 2008, he worked for the Freudenberg Group, rising to Managing Director of Freudenberg IT.

Dr von Hoyningen-Huene joined John Deere in 2009 as Head of Development for the global 6B and 6D/E tractor range. In 2014, he was appointed Factory Manager and then Managing Director of Maschinenfabrik Kemper, which is part of John Deere. More recently, he has managed the John Deere factory in Arc-les-Gray, France.

Founded in 1913, CLAAS is internationally-acknowledged as a leader in grain and forage harvesting, tractor and farm information technology.

Based at Harsewinkel, Germany, the family-owned company employs more than 11,400 people worldwide and reported turnover of 3.8 billion euros in the 2019 fiscal year.
